About us
Alpacas of Norway was established by Connie and Olav Reidar Haugen in 2004.
We live and run our alpaca farm in Hornindal, a breathtaking valley in the northwestdistrict of
southern Norway; near Europe's deepest lake, Hornindal Lake. Our valley is located between
fjords and mountains in the midst of tourists' popular 'Golden Route'.
It's been more than five years now since our first import of 15 alpacas arrived from Chile on New Years Eve. It was the first such import to Norway. Since then we have imported 70 alpacas from various countries through five shipments.
Our first introduction to alpacas was in the 1990's. We were in Minnesota visiting Connie's family when we met an alpaca breeder. In the U.S.A., they have been breeding alpacas since 1983.
Our Objectives
Our original objective was to be a part of establishing a new niche within the agricultural industry in the form of alpaca breeding and product development. With the increasing Norwegian interest for alpacas and continued growth, it appears that our vision is becoming a reality. We wish to be a part of the many alpaca enthusiasts that share and inform about the satisfaction and enjoyment of working with these beautiful and dignified animals, and the opportunities they represent.
We will continue to import, breed and sell to new and established alpaca lovers. Our goal is to have a stock of 200 top breeding animals.
På norsk, takk!
